About the Role
A highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with an outstanding reputation across New Zealand is expanding its Australian operations and seeking an experienced Technical Director – Civil Engineering to lead its Australian civil division.
The role will specialise in land and property development projects, supporting both new-build developments and alterations, extensions and upgrades to existing buildings. Candidates with strong civil engineering experience across these types of projects will be highly regarded.
You will oversee projects involving stormwater drainage, earthworks, roads, subdivisions, car parks and site servicing, working closely with leading developers, architects, builders and project managers.
The business has an established Australian client base and a strong pipeline of secured projects. The position can be tailored to your strengths, whether you prefer remaining hands-on with design and delivery or focusing on team leadership, client relationships and business growth.
The role is fully remote; however, candidates must reside in South East Queensland to support local project delivery, client relationships and the future growth of the Australian team.

Duties
- Lead the Australian Civil Engineering division
- Oversee civil engineering across land development, new-build and existing-building projects
- Provide technical leadership from feasibility and concept through to construction
- Manage stormwater, drainage, earthworks, roads and car park designs
- Oversee subdivisions, site servicing and external infrastructure coordination
- Review civil designs, specifications and technical documentation
- Mentor, manage and grow a team of civil engineers and designers
- Build relationships with developers, architects, builders and project managers
- Drive business development and secure new project opportunities
- Oversee project budgets, delivery timeframes, technical quality and commercial performance
- Collaborate with the executive team on strategic growth initiatives
- Remain hands-on with design and delivery where desired
About You
- RPEQ Civil Engineer – essential
- Minimum seven years’ civil engineering experience in Australia
- Experience across land and property development projects is strongly preferred
- Strong background in new-build and existing-building projects
- Proven capability across stormwater, drainage, earthworks, roads, subdivisions, car parks and site servicing
- Experience across residential, commercial, industrial or mixed-use developments
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and Queensland council requirements
- Understanding of relevant legislation and servicing-authority requirements
- Experience working directly with developers, architects, builders and project managers
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers
- Ability to manage projects from feasibility and concept through to construction
- Commercial mindset with robust client-relationship skills
- Business development experience will be highly regarded
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities
