About this Position:
The Plant Operator is responsible for operating plant and heavy vehicles with precision and expertise in road construction and, maintenance, and quarry operations, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment throughout the Roads and Quarry department. This role is critical in building and maintaining the infrastructure that connects communities.
Please note, the nature of this role will require the successful applicant to specifically have the following plant tickets:
- Conduct backhoe/loader operations - RIIMP0319E or similar
- Conduct excavator operations – RIIMP0320F or similar

What we trust you to deliver:
- Operate a variety of heavy plant equipment and heavy vehicles safely and efficiently to support road construction,
road maintenance, and from time to time quarry operations.
- Conduct daily pre-start, roadworthy and maintenance inspections, ensuring all plant and equipment remain safe, compliant and operational.
- Perform general roadwork, labouring and emergency response duties as required, demonstrating flexibility across different work areas and functions.
- Adhere to Work Health and Safety, National Heavy Vehicle Law, environmental and Council policies, while maintaining accurate records, inspections, timesheets and logbooks.
- Work collaboratively with team members, contractors and the community, providing professional customer service, sharing knowledge, and supporting less experienced employees.
What you will need to be successful:
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker certificate
- Dogman Ticket (HRW) (hold or willing to obtain)
Hold one of:
- Current Class C Licence
- Current Class Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence
- Current Class Heavy Combination (HC) Licence
Hold at least 2 of the below plant licences (noting that at a minimum the Conduct backhoe/loader operations and Conduct excavator operations are required):
- Conduct backhoe/loader operations - RIIMP0319E or similar
- Conduct excavator operations – RIIMP0320F or similar
- Conduct roller/compactor operations – RIIMP0205E or similar
- Conduct wheeled front end loader operations RIIMP0321F or similar
- Conduct grader operations - RIIMP0310F or similar

Full Time Contract: 76 hours per fortnight, across a 9-day fortnight
Salary: A salary range starting from $1,353.60 per week (Grade 9 Entry), plus superannuation
