About the role

Matty's Toys and Baby is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Hobbies and Outdoor Play Retail Sales Assistant to join our team in South Nowra, NSW. This is a full time role, however we need someone who is willing to work some or all weekends with preference going to applicants able to commit more fully to weekend shifts. We open every Saturday from 9-4 and Sundays from 9.30-1.30. We are closed for all Public Holidays except Easter Saturday. You will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining a tidy and organised retail space, and assisting with various store operations.

What you'll be doing

1. Greeting and assisting customers in a warm and welcoming manner

2. Providing product information and recommendations to customers on all products but particularly in relation to our hobbies and outdoor play range

3. Using our computer system to enter new products and update stock

4. Communicating with customers and suppliers via phone and email

5. Assisting customers with issues in finding parts and undertaking simple repairs on radio control products

6. Handling cash, credit card transactions, and balancing the register

7. Must be 18+ years of age to handle cash transactions and register responsibilities

8. Collaborating with the team to ensure a smooth and efficient store operation

What we're looking for

1. Previous experience in a retail or customer service role, preferably in the hobbies, toys or outdoor play industry

2. Minimum of 1+ years retail experience required, however if you think your skill set and interests hit the mark everywhere else, don't let this stop you from applying!

3. Proficient level of computer application skills. Experience in ecommerce software, Word, Excel an advantage

6. Motivated to help people find the right product that suits their needs and budget

7. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with a genuine passion for providing excellent customer service

8. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently

9. Flexibility to take on extra or different shifts in busy season and school holidays and to cover staff leave. Very minimal public holiday work required

10. Australian work rights are required for this position
