We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Optical Sales Consultant to join our team in Port Kembla. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with optical dispensing, optical mechanics, customer service, or optical sales support experience who is looking for a part-time role within a growing and specialised industry.
As part of a small, collaborative team, you'll enjoy a varied role that combines customer service, order management, client support, stock coordination, and occasional onsite customer interaction. Full training on our products and systems will be provided.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring customers receive exceptional service and that safety eyewear orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Order Processing
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently through our Optomate system
- Coordinate approvals with site managers for safety eyewear supply when required
- Support the day-to-day delivery of prescription and non-prescription safety eyewear solutions
- Provide outstanding customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions
- Liaise with optical practices and customers regarding prescription requirements and product information
Safety Eyewear Services
- Process and manage safety eyewear orders daily
- Assist with dispensing and onsite support services across customer locations when required
- Ensure all products and processes meet required safety and quality standards
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently
Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of safety frames, accessories, and cleaning products
- Monitor inventory and assist with stock reporting
- Coordinate replenishment of frames and consumables with Head Office
- Support annual stocktake activities and inventory reconciliation
Sales Support
- Assist in achieving team sales targets and growth objectives
- Support the development of sales opportunities within existing customer accounts
- Educate customers on product features, benefits, and compliance requirements
- Provide backup support across the wider team as required
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys helping customers, takes pride in accuracy, and thrives in a team environment.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience as an Optical Dispenser, Optical Mechanic, or within the optical industry (highly regarded)
- Previous customer service, administration, or sales support experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- A proactive, positive, and "can-do" attitude
- The ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues
- Confidence working with computer systems and processing orders
