We are currently seeking compassionate, reliable and motivated Support Workers to join our growing team. Whether you have experience supporting participants with everyday living or those with high and complex support needs, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will provide individualised support to NDIS participants in their homes, our SIL homes and within community. You will work alongside participants, families and the wider support team to promote independence, dignity, choice and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and support with daily living activities
- Assist with meal planning, meal preparation and household tasks
- Provide safe and appropriate manual handling support, including the use of hoists and Sara Stedy equipment, in accordance with participant care plans and safe work practices.
- Support participants to attend medical, allied health and community appointments
- Facilitate community access and social participation
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans (BSP's) strategies and participant support plans
- Respond calmly and professionally to challenging behaviours where required
- Maintain accurate and progress notes, documentation and incident reporting
- Build positive relationships with participants, families and allied health professionals
- Promote a safe, respectful and person-centred environement
About You
You are compassionate, patient and reliable, with a genuine passion for supporting people to achieve their goals.
Experience supporting participants with the following will be highly regarded:
- Autism (ASD)
- Mental Health Disorders
- Diabetes and other complex health needs
- High and complex support needs
- Behaviours of concern and robust personalities
- Personal care and manual handling
- Confident and competent in manual handling, including the safe use of hoists and Sara Stedy equipment
- Positive Behaviour Support Plans
- Trauma-informed practice
Mandatory Requirements
- Certificate III in Individual Support
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children's Check
- Current First Aid & CPR
Current Australian Driver's License and reliable insured vehicle
- National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Requirements
- Certificate IV in Disability, Aged Care, Mental Health, Community Services or equivalent (depending on experience)
- Experience supporting participants with high complex needs
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans
- Medication Administration competency
- Manual Handling and Hoist training
- De-escalation or Crisis Intervention Training (eg CPI)
- Experience supporting participants with dual diagnoses
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice
