Lead Software Engineer (SSE II)

Salary: A$220,000.00-A$230,000.00

Responsibilities

- Architectural ownership of highly resilient APIs and microservices, setting the standard for technical excellence and maintainability.
- Drive technical alignment across teams to reconcile long‑term architectural health with business objectives.
- Take end‑to‑end technical ownership of significant features, setting the bar for code quality, testing, and robust architectural contribution within the squad.
- Identify and implement key improvements to core integration patterns, developer tooling, and system observability to elevate the engineering standard for the Checkout ecosystem.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and mid‑level engineers, championing modern engineering best practices.

Qualifications

- Hands‑on engineering experience building scalable systems in a commercial environment.
- Solid experience in .NET Core (C#) and modern frontend frameworks like React/Next.js.
- Extensive experience developing microservices and cloud‑native solutions on AWS (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Deep experience with API design, integration strategies, and APM.
- A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn, and grow.
- An aptitude for identifying and managing risks.
