The Leading Hand is responsible for providing frontline leadership and actively participating in the secure and efficient operation of Terreco Resources' waste and resource recovery activities. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on operational duties, including construction and demolition (C&D;) waste sorting, resource recovery, labouring, plant operation, site housekeeping and materials management.

The Leading Hand works alongside operational employees to coordinate daily activities, support productivity targets, maintain compliance with environmental and safety requirements, and promote a positive, high-performing workplace culture. The role is expected to lead by example through active participation in operational tasks while ensuring waste processing activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company standards and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

- Lead by example in all safety matters and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company procedures and safe work practices
- Conduct pre-start meetings, workplace inspections and hazard identification activities
- Report and investigate incidents, hazards and near misses as required
- Coordinate daily waste processing and resource recovery activities
- Allocate work and assist with prioritisation of operational tasks
- Monitor workflow and site productivity




- Sort and separate construction and demolition waste streams and identify recyclable, reusable and recoverable materials
- Undertake manual labouring duties as required, including loading, unloading and movement of materials
- Safely operate authorised plant and equipment where licensed and competent
- Provide daily direction, mentoring and support to operational employees and assist with training and onboarding of new employees

About you

- Current Driver Licence
- Demonstrated experience in waste management, resource recovery, recycling, civil construction, quarrying, construction or a similar operational environment
- Experience undertaking manual labouring duties in an industrial setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate operational work crews
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in physically demanding and outdoor environments
- Ability to identify and separate waste streams and recyclable materials
- Front End Loader, Excavator, Skid Steer or Forklift competency (desirable)
