Luxury Hotel Developer
We are a privately owned hotel developer delivering a significant luxury hotel development, alongside a growing pipeline of hospitality and tourism projects.
We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded General Manager / Head of Operations to lead the day-to-day business and work closely with the Managing Director. This is a hands‑on role for a proactive doer who can oversee the business as a whole, manage people, keep multiple workstreams moving and ensure decisions are followed through.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of the business, overseeing and coordinating the head office team, on‑site operations and external consultants to ensure alignment, accountability and delivery
- Maintain oversight of budgets, cash flow, expenditure and financial performance, working closely with the finance team
- Maintain commercial oversight across consultants, procurement, marketing and other major business expenditure
- Oversee capital‑raising activities and work closely with the investor relations function
- Work closely with the Project Director and specialist hotel development consultants, ensuring priorities remain aligned
- Manage key relationships with investors, consultants, advisers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Support the Managing Director with commercial and strategic decision‑making and ensure agreed actions are implemented
- Drive accountability, improve internal processes and proactively identify and resolve issues across the business
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience at General Manager level within a small to mid‑sized business
- Track record of leading day‑to‑day operations across a whole business rather than a single function
- Strong financial acumen, including oversight of budgets, cash flow, expenditure and financial reporting
- Commercial judgement, with the ability to interrogate costs, challenge recommendations and negotiate with suppliers and consultants
- Experience managing and coordinating external consultants, advisers and third‑party providers
- People leadership experience across head office and operational teams
- Experience managing senior stakeholder relationships, including investors, advisers and suppliers
- Ability to run multiple concurrent workstreams and hold others accountable to agreed timeframes
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial setting with limited corporate infrastructure
- Highly Regarded
- Hospitality experience, particularly within hotel development or hotel operations
- Exposure to capital raising, investor relations or working with a privately owned or family‑owned business
- Experience working alongside a Project Director or development team on a major capital project
- Background in property, construction or major project delivery
- Experience improving internal processes, systems and reporting in a growing business
About You
- Proactive, practical and solutions‑focused
- Calm and decisive under pressure
- Confident dealing with senior stakeholders
- A strong communicator who can align people across different parts of the business
- Willing to get into the detail when required
What We Offer
- Attractive remuneration package
- The opportunity to work with an outstanding team and alongside some of the best operators in Australian hospitality
- Involvement in a landmark luxury project where you can make your mark
- Participation in a range of functions and events throughout the year
