About the Role
As Senior Communications Officer, Animal Biosecurity, you will develop and deliver strategic communications that help people understand biosecurity risks, responsibilities and practices.
You will provide trusted communications advice, create clear and engaging content across multiple channels, and deliver campaigns, events and stakeholder engagement activities. Working closely with technical experts and key partners, you will turn complex information into accessible messages and support timely communications during biosecurity incidents and emergency responses.
You will also use data, feedback and insights to evaluate impact and continuously improve communication outcomes. The role will focus on the cattle tick program https://www.dpird.nsw.gov.au/dpi/biosecurity/animal-biosecurity/cattle-tick-in-nsw and dealing with predominantly northern rivers stakeholders at the coal face.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Experience delivering strategic communications in complex environments.
- Strong writing and digital communication skills across multiple channels.
- The ability to turn technical information into clear, accessible content.
- Experience managing campaigns, projects and competing priorities.
- Confidence working with diverse stakeholders in high-pressure situations.
- Experience in government, biosecurity, agriculture, regulatory or emergency settings.
Essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations and/or equivalent professional experience.
