About the Role
n
As our Food Coordinator/Chef , you will be responsible for planning and preparing fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for the children each day. You'll cater to dietary requirements and allergies while providing a variety of meals that support healthy eating.
n
A regular day in this role will involve:
n
n
- Planning, preparing and cooking nutritious meals and snacks.
n
- Catering to dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences.
n
- Planning and reviewing menus to ensure meals are balanced and varied.
n
- Ordering food supplies and managing food stock and waste.
n
- Working within the allocated food budget.
n
- Following food safety, hygiene and health requirements.
n
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well maintained.
n
- Supporting food and cooking experiences for children.
n
- Working collaboratively with the centre team.
n
- Building positive relationships with children, families and team members.
n
n
What You Will Bring
n
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
n
n
- A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Food Preparation or equivalent experience.
n
- A current Working with Children Check (or be able to obtain one before starting).
n
- A current Food Handling Certificate and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
n
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, childcare setting, or similar environment.
n
- Knowledge of nutrition and age-appropriate dietary requirements for young children.
n
- Experience managing allergies and individual dietary requirements.
n
- Strong food safety, hygiene and allergen management practices.
n
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and prepare meals efficiently.
n
- A genuine passion for nutrition and promoting healthy eating in early childhood.
n
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
n
