Senior Structural Engineer – Temporary Works & Formwork

About the Role

n

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in temporary works, formwork and construction-stage engineering to join our growing engineering team.

n

This role will suit an engineer who enjoys solving practical construction challenges and has experience designing safe, efficient and buildable engineering solutions.

n

You will work across a range of projects involving Site inspection, temporary works, formwork, falsework, propping and other construction support systems.

n

The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation, good practical understanding of construction, and the ability to take ownership of engineering design and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Design and review temporary works and structural engineering solutions.
n
- Prepare engineering calculations, design documentation, drawings and technical reports.
n
- Develop and review designs for formwork, falsework, propping, shoring and other temporary support systems.
n
- Carry out structural analysis and assess construction-stage loading and stability.
n
- Review construction methodologies and sequencing from an engineering perspective.
n
- Develop practical and buildable engineering solutions for construction projects.
n
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
n
- Review drawings, calculations and technical documentation for quality and accuracy.
n
- Provide technical support to project teams and assist with resolving engineering issues.
n
- Attend site visits and inspections where required.
n
- Support and mentor junior engineers/designers and designers where appropriate.
n
- Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, project requirements and engineering best practice.

About You

n

To be successful in this role,



you will ideally have:

n

n
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
n
- A minimum of 4–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
n
- Experience in structural engineering and/or temporary works design.
n
- Strong knowledge of formwork, falsework, propping and shoring systems.
n
- Experience carrying out structural analysis and engineering calculations.
n
- A practical understanding of construction methodology and construction sequencing.
n
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
n
- Ability to prepare clear engineering calculations, reports and documentation.
n
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
n
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple engineering tasks.
n

Highly Regarded Experience

n

Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following will be highly regarded:

n

n
- Other proprietary formwork or temporary works systems
n
- Structural analysis and engineering design software
n
- Australian Standards and local construction practices
n
- Site-based engineering or construction experience
n

n

Preferred Qualifications

n

The following will be highly regarded but are not essential:

n

n
- Membership with Engineers Australia.
n
- CPEng status or actively working towards Chartered status.
n
- Previous experience in a temporary works, formwork, construction engineering or structural design environment.
n
- Experience working directly with contractors, builders, suppliers or construction teams.
n
