As a Graduate Lawyer or Lawyer, you will be part of a working group headed by a Special Counsel to whom you will report.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the team with drafting of letters of advice to clients, pleadings, briefs to counsel and positions papers.
- Attend court for the necessary mentions and instruct barrister(s) at interlocutory applications and/or Hearings.
- Attend Mediations and Informal Settlement Conferences with the team's Special Council.
- Be one of the firm's first points of contact with new enquires, at which time you will be expected to take instructions and provide advice as to the merit of the claims of potential clients.
- Mentor law clerks
About you
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in support of client interaction.
- Excellent technical skills and experience in the preparation of court documents and daily correspondence.
- Ability to manage complex, high-value matters
- Ability to liaise with third parties, including opposing solicitors,
counsel and medical experts.
- Maintenance of diary management and scheduling
- A meticulous attention to detail
- A collaborative team spirit
- A client-focused mindset and a demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships.
- Preferably with experience in the area of Institutional Child Abuse.
