About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Payroll & HR Officer to join the team at Hinterland Toyota. This is a hands‑on role responsible for the accurate and timely management of weekly payroll for approximately 290 employees across six companies, together with a broad range of HR administration, compliance and reconciliation responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be confident working independently, have strong attention to detail and possess a thorough understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and employment requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- End‑to‑end weekly payroll processing for approximately 290 employees across six companies.
- Onboarding recent employees, including employee records and system setup.
- Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date employee records.
- Managing employee systems including Unipay, Workforce TNA and BrightHR.
- Managing the timesheet and attendance system and liaising with Managers to resolve issues and ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies promptly and accurately.
- Ensuring payroll is processed in full compliance with relevant Awards, legislation and employment requirements.
- Same‑day processing of Superannuation and Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions.
- Processing weekly Group Tax payments.
- Liaising with our external HR provider regarding employee terminations, grievances, unfair dismissal matters and Fair Work investigations.
- Ensuring appropriate HR processes and documentation are maintained in accordance with legislation and company requirements.
- Completing end‑of‑month payroll and account reconciliations.
- Managing year‑end payroll reconciliations and reporting requirements.
- Managing WorkCover, Child Support, State Revenue Payroll Tax and PAYG requirements.
- Conducting audit and account reconciliations to ensure payroll and financial records are accurate.
- Providing general HR and administrative support as required.
- Providing reception relief when required.
About You
- Some experience in an end‑to‑end payroll position, preferably managing payroll.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards, superannuation, STP and PAYG requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies confidently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with Managers, employees and external HR providers.
- A high level of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee information.
- Experience with payroll and HR systems; experience with Unipay, Workforce TNA and BrightHR will be highly regarded.
- The ability to work independently while also being a reliable and collaborative member of the team.
