About the Role
This is a newly created role that combines hands-on disability support work with day-to-day coordination responsibilities. Working on support shifts within one of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes, you will act as a key point of coordination, supporting both participants and staff to ensure the best possible outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on disability support work while also helping guide and support a team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
The Key Worker plays an important role within the home, helping ensure supports are delivered consistently, communication across the team is strong, and the household environment remains protected, organised and participant-focused.
You will work closely with the House Manager, supporting them with coordinating day-to-day tasks, maintaining documentation standards, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred support to participants in line with their individual plans and goals
- Support the House Manager with coordinating day-to-day tasks, including rostering communication, household routines, and shift handovers
- Act as a Key Worker for one or more participants, monitoring their support needs and liaising with the House Manager on progress and concerns
- Promote strong communication between staff and across shifts, and support the team to maintain high-quality participant records
- Maintain household documentation and communication systems
- Provide guidance and mentoring support to team members, under the direction of the House Manager
- Assist with household organisation, safety checks, workplace health and safety practices, and other compliance requirements
- Support the monitoring of participant financial records in line with BelleJoy procedures, raising any concerns with the House Manager
- Support a positive team culture and professional practice
- Assist with preparing for house meetings and coordinating household tasks such as deep cleans and maintenance requests
- Step in to support team coordination during the House Manager's absence, as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience as an Individual Support Worker or similar role in the disability or aged care sector
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or Aged Care
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with participants and staff
- Demonstrated organisational skills, with the ability to help coordinate tasks and support the team during shifts
