Join our Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation Team
We are seeking a motivated and personable workers’ compensation lawyer with approximately 2–3 years’ post-admission experience to join our team in Sydney.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to further develop their career in workers’ compensation litigation within a supportive and professional environment. You will also have the opportunity to work with our public liability and insurance team.
About the Role
You will have the prospect to work across a diverse range of NSW workers’ compensation matters, managing files from initial advice through to resolution and, where appropriate, litigation.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience acting for applicants/plaintiffs and/or respondents/defendants. Candidates who have had exposure to both sides of workers’ compensation litigation will be highly regarded.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of workers’ compensation matters.
- Providing advice to clients regarding statutory benefits, work injury damages and related claims.
- Preparing correspondence, pleadings, submissions and other legal documents.
- Conducting negotiations and mediations.
- Appearing in the NSW Personal Injury Commission and other relevant forums.
- Liaising with insurers, employers, workers, medical practitioners and other stakeholders.
- Managing matters efficiently and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Working closely with senior lawyers and developing your technical and advocacy skills.
Ideally, you will have:
- 2–3 years’ post-admission experience (PAE).
- Experience in NSW workers’ compensation law.
- Experience acting for applicants/plaintiffs, defendants/respondents, or ideally both.
- A current NSW Practising Certificate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and file-management skills.
- A genuine interest in workers’ compensation and personal injury law.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team.
Experience in both applicant and defendant work is highly desirable, although we are also happy to consider a strong candidate who has predominantly worked on one side and is interested in broadening their experience.
What We Offer
- A supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Exposure to a broad range of workers’ compensation matters.
- The opportunity to work on both applicant and defendant matters.
- Mentoring and ongoing professional development.
- Genuine opportunities for career progression.
- Competitive remuneration commensurate with experience.
- Flexible working arrangements.
If you are a 2–3 year PAE workers’ compensation lawyer looking for your next career opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
