Electrical Engineer – Automated Material Handling

Our client is a well-established provider of automated material handling and warehouse automation solutions, delivering systems including conveyors, shuttle systems and automated warehouse equipment across Australia. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their automation team.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations & Project Director, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems supporting automated material handling and warehouse automation projects.

Key responsibilities include:

- Developing electrical layouts and system architectures for automation and warehouse projects
- Designing and preparing motor control drawings, power distribution schematics and control panel drawings
- Selecting and specifying electrical components including motors, circuit protection devices, PLC hardware, safety devices, sensors and field instrumentation
- Ensuring designs comply with applicable Australian standards, electrical regulations and customer specifications
- Preparing technical documentation including BOMs, cable schedules and test procedures




- Troubleshooting electrical and control system issues during installation and operation
- Collaborating with the wider automation team and supporting maintenance and service teams
- Complying with all site WH&S; and quality procedures

About You

- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (essential)
- 2-5 years' experience in an electrical engineering environment
- Practical experience with PLC-based automation systems
- Experience using electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and automation systems in industrial environments
- Experience working within multidisciplinary automation teams (controls and software engineers)
- Sound understanding of electrical standards and safety regulations
- Solid communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
