What are we looking for?
The Superannuation & Disability Insurance team are now seekingExpressions of Interest for a Law Clerk to join our Melbourne team for aParental Leave contract. Both Full Time/ Part-Time options will be considered. Ourteam works closely with clients who have superannuation Total and PermanentDisability (TPD) or private disability insurance claims following an injury orillness. We work to achieve the best possible outcomes for ourclients.Under supervision of a Lawyer your daily duties willinclude:
- Undertaking client interviews toestablishan entitlement to make a disability insurance claim
- Review insurance policies and trust deeds applicable to the client’s matter
- Preparation of claim forms and legal submissions
- Draft correspondence to clients and third parties
- Providinga tailored approach to each client’s matter
- Managing your own file load of client claims
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, internal and external stakeholders
- Working closely with the legal teams to advance legal matters for clients.
What will you bring?
You will have a passion for social justice and generating positive outcomes for clients. The following experience and skills will ensure your success in this position:
- A keen interest in personal injury law
- Exposure to a plaintiff personal injury practice (highly desirable)
- A natural passion for helping people and high level of empathy
- Exceptionalexperience in communicationand customer service
- Excellent written and drafting skills
- Recognise the importance of attention to detail and time management
- Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment
- A willingness to learn
- Proactive approach and initiative
To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with full and unrestricted working rights in Australia. Proof of work rights will be required as part of the Slater and Gordon application process.
