Regal Mushrooms is seeking a motivated and hands-on Assistant Grower to join our growing team at our Londonderry site.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced agricultural setting and has a strong interest in crop production, technology and using data to achieve the best possible growing outcomes.

About the Role

Reporting to the Grower & Technical Manager, the Assistant Grower plays an important role in the day-to-day management and monitoring of our mushroom crops.

You will work closely with our Growers, Waterers, Maintenance, Harvest and Postharvest teams to monitor growing conditions, identify issues and make informed decisions that support quality, yield and continuous improvement.

The current roster is Tuesday to Saturday, with varying start and finish times:

- Tuesday to Thursday: generally 10:00am - 6:30pm

- Friday and Saturday: generally 6:00am - 2:30pm

Due to the nature of mushroom growing, some flexibility is required. The position may involve rostered responsibilities outside normal operating hours, including monitoring or adjusting growing parameters and responding to operational issues when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor mushroom crops and growing room conditions

- Record and analyse growing data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement

- Monitor and adjust growing conditions, including temperature, humidity, CO2, airflow and watering

- Monitor growing systems and identify issues requiring attention

- Monitor crop health, flies and disease management

- Count pins and assess crop development





- Monitor equipment including chillers, boilers, pumps, filters, water tanks and dosing systems

- Support growing trials and continuous improvement initiatives

- Prepare and communicate growing room instructions

- Supervise and monitor watering activities

- Work closely with the Grower and Technical Manager to troubleshoot crop and growing issues

- Support Freshcare, food safety and WHS requirements

- Maintain accurate growing and compliance records

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, analytical and keen to develop their knowledge of commercial mushroom production.

Experience in mushroom growing, horticulture, agriculture or controlled-environment crop production would be highly regarded.
