About the position:
The City has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Work, Health and Safety specialist to join our organisation. We are looking for a driven professional to lead our Work Health & Safety team in the implementation and ongoing continuous improvement of WHS systems.
This position will coordinate the implementation, ongoing maintenance and improvement of the CityWHS system and practices, and contribute to effective safety, health and wellbeing planning andperformance management across the organisation.
This is a full time, five (5) year fixed term position with the possibility of extension.
Key accountabilities:
- Support the effective implementation of the WHS management system and champion fordriving a high safety culture throughout Council.
- Support the development, review and continuous improvement of the WHS and InjuryManagement systems, and practices to ensure standards would comply with the selfinsurance framework and legislative requirements.
- Actively participate in the People Safety & Wellbeing team to drive safety performance acrossCouncil, identify and recommend health, safety and environment training and developmentactivities and promotions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, local and statutory regulations including therequirements of the Code of Conduct, EEO principles, the Work Health and Safety Act and theLocal Government Act.

Position requirements:
The City is seeking a self-motivated Principal WHS Specialist with comprehensive experienceimplementing WHS Systems and ensuring organisational compliance to WHS legislation.
Ideally thesuccessful applicant will possess a degree in Work Health & Safety and relevant experience or lesserqualification with extensive experience.
Comprehensive experience leading a Work, Health & Safety team is a must, and demonstratedexperience collaborating with leadership teams are highly regarded.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is requiredof all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
This role is offered as a five (5) year fixed term contract. A salary package of up to $169,268.74 perannum or $76.48 per hour will be offered commensurate with knowledge, skills, experience andqualifications.
