Here’s what you’ll be up to…

As a Plant Operator – Driver, you will play a key role within the Civil Operations team, contributing to the effective delivery of public infrastructure and service outcomes across the City.

This role involves:

- Operating Council vehicles safely for the transport of personnel, equipment and materials in accordance with licence requirements and statutory obligations
- Conducting pre-start inspections, monitoring road and site conditions, and ensuring loads are secured in line with regulatory requirements
- Operating plant, tools and equipment across a range of civil construction and maintenance activities, including undertaking routine checks and arranging repairs where required
- Performing manual labouring duties associated with civil works, including construction, maintenance and cleansing activities
- Supporting traffic control activities and maintaining safe work site
- Delivering high-quality customer service to internal stakeholders and the broader community, ensuring Council is represented positivelyMaintaining compliance with Council policies, relevant legislation and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements at all times

What are we looking for?

- You have an MR or HR licence and enjoy operating plant, equipment and vehicles in a practical, outdoor environment

willing to learn and ready to take on a mix of driving, plant operation and civil maintenance tasks.

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements

- A current Class MR or HR Licence
- Experience in Civil Construction Labouring
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White) Card
- Current Traffic Controller card (Blue ticket) or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) work practices
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Construction or related area
- Previous experience in Local Government
- Experience in operating plant and equipment
