Implementation of psychosocial risk management initiatives in a large and complex environment

Your new company

A large Queensland Government healthcare organisation is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join their Health, Safety and Wellbeing team. Based in Townsville, this 3-month contract offers the opportunity to work closely with leaders and staff across a diverse health service, supporting the implementation and ongoing improvement of psychosocial risk management systems and workplace wellbeing initiatives.

Your new role

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you will provide specialist work health and safety advice and support with a strong focus on psychosocial risk management. Working across a large and complex organisation, you will partner with managers and staff to strengthen safety culture, ensure legislative compliance, and support the delivery of proactive workplace health and safety initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing specialist WHS advice, guidance and support to managers and staff regarding legislative obligations and psychosocial risk management requirements.
- Supporting the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the organisation's Psychosocial Risk Management System.
- Monitoring and interpreting WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and related requirements, providing advice to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of health and safety strategies and programs that address psychosocial hazards and emerging risks.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of health and safety education, training and awareness initiatives.
- Analysing incident and injury data to identify psychosocial risk trends and support risk assessment activities.
- Conducting assurance, monitoring and review activities to evaluate the effectiveness of health, safety and wellbeing management systems and processes.




- Supporting the investigation and review of psychosocial incidents and contributing to recommendations for corrective actions.
- Managing sensitive and confidential information in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to promote a positive, proactive and people-focused safety culture.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong workplace health and safety experience, with demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial risk management, safety systems and legislative compliance.

You will also possess:

- Experience providing WHS advice and support within complex organisational environments.
- Strong understanding of psychosocial risk assessment, incident management and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations and assurance activities.
- Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical compliance advice to a broad range of stakeholders.
- Well-developed communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational abilities.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and influence positive safety outcomes.
