Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises – Cairns QLD

Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises (GEBIE) is a Not-for-Profit organisation, and we are seeking an experienced Finance Officer for our team.

This is a Part-time role (approx. 0.5 FTE) and is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity while providing excellent support to internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

- Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions
- Prepare Invoices, Journals, and Payment-runs
- Prepare Bank and Credit card Reconciliations
- Assist with Month-end and Year-end financial reporting




- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Monitor outstanding debtor balances and follow up as required
- Support audits and compliance requirements
- Respond to finance-related enquiries from staff, suppliers, and customers
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls

About you

- Previous experience in a Finance Officer role is essential
- Robust understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Proficiency in NetSuite is desirable but not essential
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
