About the role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee to join our team at Cottage Kids Community Preschool in Berkeley Vale, NSW. This is a full time position that offers an excellent prospect to launch your career in early childhood education and care. As a Trainee, you will work alongside experienced educators to support the delivery of quality care and learning experiences for children in our preschool setting. This role is essential to our commitment to providing a supportive, stimulating environment where children can thrive and develop.
Key responsibilities
- Support qualified educators in planning, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate learning activities and play experiences
- Assist with the supervision and duty of care for children throughout the day, including meal times, rest times and transitions
- Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming learning setting, including classroom organisation and hygienic practices
- Support children's emotional wellbeing and social development by building positive relationships and encouraging inclusive play
- Assist with documentation and observation of children's learning and development as directed by lead educators
- Contribute to communication with families through day sheets, photos and regular updates about children's experiences
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills
- Follow all centre policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements, including those related to health, safety and child protection
What we’re looking for
- A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development and learning
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from qualified educators
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families
- A commitment to maintaining a high standard of health, safety and hygiene within the childcare environment
- Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to your responsibilities
- The willingness to undertake formal qualifications in early childhood education and care (such as a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care)
- A current Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employment
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is desirable
- Relevant experience in childcare, education or community settings is advantageous but not essential
