KBN Holdings is seeking enthusiastic and reliable HC Watercart/Machine Operators to join our team doing road maintenance for Cook Shire, North Queensland. Our jobsite is west of Mareeba / Cooktown and is accessible via a normal vehicloe, and we prefer operators to have their own vehicle.

The position is for the remainder of the 2026 season to last through to December or first storms for an immediate start and would suit someone who loves working in the bush.

Own Camps or Caravans are welcome but air-conditioned accommodation is available.

Meals are provided and included as well as Wifi is also available.

This position is really suited to someone with at least 2-3 years' experience in civil roadworks. Applicants to provide a resume detailing work experience supported with a minimum of 2 referees demonstrating working in civil roadworks alongside graders mixing gravel, maintenance grading, backwatering and dust suppression. White or Blue card is a requirement.

Key responsibilities

- Operate HR / HC watercart equipment safely and efficiently to control dust and maintain site conditions
- Conduct pre-operation checks on watercart machinery and report any mechanical issues or defects




- Work Alongside Grader Operators and other team members Mixing Gravel, Maintenance grading, and backwatering
- Comply with all site-specific inductions and daily sheets
- Communicate effectively with site supervisor and other team members regarding operational matters
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of watercart equipment as required
- Respond promptly to changing site conditions and operational requirements

What we're looking for

- Valid driver's license appropriate to the watercart vehicle class (NO automatic or Condition B on license)
- White or Blue card for the Construction Industry
- Minimum 2 Relevant Referees
- Previous experience operating watercarts or similar plant and machinery in a civil construction setting
- Knowledge of dust control practices and backwatering
- Ability to perform pre-operation equipment checks
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
- Physical fitness and capability to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Reliability and punctuality.
