About you

Townsville City Council is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our Infrastructure and Operations Division as Team Manager Engineering & Asset Planning Water and Waste.

As the Team Manager Engineering & Asset Planning Water and Waste, you will provide strategic leadership across Council's water, wastewater and waste engineering, planning and asset management functions. Reporting to the General Manager Engineering and Asset Infrastructure Planning, you will lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for delivering integrated water cycle planning outcomes, asset lifecycle strategies and long-term infrastructure planning initiatives that support the sustainable growth of Townsville.

In this role, you will oversee the development of strategic infrastructure plans, engineering investigations, concept designs and capital works recommendations, ensuring Council's water, wastewater and waste assets continue to deliver reliable and effective services to the community. You will provide expert advice on asset condition, performance, risk and renewal requirements while driving innovation, continuous improvement and best-practice asset management.

As a key member of Council's leadership team, you will lead a team of approximately 40 employees, foster a strong safety and customer-focused culture,



and build collaborative relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to influence long-term infrastructure outcomes and contribute to the delivery of essential services that support a growing and vibrant city.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- A Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or the ability to obtain registration within 12 months.
- Extensive experience in water and wastewater engineering, asset management and infrastructure planning.
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and complex infrastructure programs.
- Strong knowledge of integrated water cycle planning, asset lifecycle management and capital works planning.
- Proven financial management, stakeholder engagement and strategic leadership capabilities.
- Exceptional communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- A current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
