Join the Team
As a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator, you'll be a key member of the Sales Team, playing an important role in preparing accurate, competitive and well-documented project tenders.
This is a hands-on position where you'll have the opportunity to contribute directly to continued business growth while developing your skills within established systems and processes.
Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate cost estimates for projects ranging from $25K to $1M.
- Reviewing project plans, specifications and contract documents to determine the scope of work.
- Conducting material take-offs and accurately quantifying required materials.
- Engaging with subcontractors,
including calling and confirming their interest in participating in tenders.
- Sourcing and obtaining competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Analysing project costs, including labour, materials, equipment and overheads.
- Collaborating with project teams to assess project requirements and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Preparing comprehensive and competitive tender submissions, including pricing and non-pricing components, with a strong focus on presentation and branding.
- Monitoring market trends and maintaining an up-to-date understanding of current pricing.
- Following up on subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database of tender documentation.
What We’re Looking For
We're looking for an experienced and proactive Estimator who can work confidently in a fast-paced construction environment.
You will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related field (desirable).
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Estimating role within the construction industry.
- Experience with simPRO, MS Project, EstimateOne and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A confident and assertive approach, particularly when coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
- A strong eye for detail and a high standard of professional presentation.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and work within established systems and processes.
