Senior Policy Officer – New Business and Reform

Employment type – Temporary 12 months (with possibility of extension)

Salary – Clerk Grade Level 9/10 - $133,348 - $146,945 pa plus superannuation & annual leave loading

Your role

The purpose of this role is to work within the Registrar of Community Housing’s New Business and Reform team. The role is policy and project-based and will assist in the implementation of a suite of reforms. The role will be responsible for coordinating multiple policies and projects as a result of the recently passed Community Housing Providers (Adoption of the National Law) Bill 2025 (Bill).

What you’ll do

As part of the (New Business and Reform team), you will be responsible for the implementation of the Bill.

You’ll lead in establishing policies and processes that support the Registrar’s functions under the Bill, including the establishment and ongoing management of the NSW Affordable Housing Register of Dwellings, the Affordable Housing Managers regulatory system, information sharing arrangements with key stakeholders and communications with key stakeholders.

You’ll be part of a team developing high quality regulatory policy and best practice to drive reform and directly contribute to better outcomes for individuals, families, groups and communities with regard to the community housing sector.

You'll work as part of the New Business and Reform Team under the Principal Compliance Officer – Current Business and Reform. The role is a hybrid role in accordance with the DCJ Flexible Work Policy, offering 50% work from office and 50% work from home.

- Able to demonstrate advanced written and oral communication skills




- Able to understand and distil complex legal and legislative concepts into plain English
- Project coordination and management skills
- Knowledge of the community housing sector and community housing legislation
- Experience engaging with stakeholders
- Problem solving skills and ability to manage nuance
