We are seeking an experienced and passionate Team Leader - Complex Needs to join our Gold Coast Clinical Services team.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced clinician to provide specialist psychotherapy, counselling and dual diagnosis support to clients experiencing complex mental health and alcohol and other drug presentations. Working across residential and community programs, you will play a key role in supporting recovery, improving wellbeing, and delivering evidence-based interventions to individuals, families and communities.

The Team Leader Complex Needs Practitioner provides specialist expertise in the development and delivery of evidence-informed individual and group therapeutic interventions intended to:

- Support clients within the Mirikai Residential Treatment Program, Lives Lived Well community programs, and self-referrals from the Gold Coast community.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to assist people with complex needs, including dual diagnosis presentations, in reducing or ceasing harmful alcohol and other drug use.
- Assist people with complex needs to establish healthier lifestyles and achieve meaningful recovery outcomes.
- Address mental health presentations through psychotherapy and counselling, with a particular focus on historical trauma and personality disorders.

Other Responsibilities Include

- Leading the provision of high-quality engagement, assessment, psychotherapy, counselling and, where relevant, case management for clients referred to the Youth Dual Diagnosis Program.
- Managing a clinical caseload of clients experiencing complex needs and dual diagnosis presentations.
- Working collaboratively with clients and, where appropriate, their families and support networks to develop, implement and review treatment goals, care plans and discharge plans.
- Supporting and facilitating psychotherapy referrals for residential clients and acting as a liaison point for private practitioners where required.




- Developing and facilitating therapeutic and psycho-educational groups for clients, families and significant others.
- Providing specialist AOD and dual diagnosis advice and support regarding intake, assessment, clinical review, discharge planning and program development within the residential program.
- Providing expert practice advice and secondary consultation to Lives Lived Well clinicians.
- Supporting and supervising interns within the Youth Complex Needs Program when required.
- Ensuring client records, reporting and documentation meet privacy, confidentiality and professional practice standards.
- Ensuring organisational procedures, systems and incident reporting requirements are consistently implemented and maintained.
- Contributing to funding reports, service reviews and performance reporting.
- Participating in Team Leader meetings and supporting contractual obligations and key performance indicators.

About You

You are an experienced and highly capable clinician who is passionate about supporting people experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges, mental health concerns, trauma and dual diagnosis presentations.

You thrive in a collaborative environment and bring strong therapeutic skills, sound clinical judgement and a commitment to evidence-based practice.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

- A minimum Bachelor-level qualification in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
- A minimum of two years' post-graduate experience delivering face-to-face psychotherapy and evidence-based therapeutic interventions within AOD and/or mental health settings.
- Experience working with clients experiencing complex needs, dual diagnosis presentations and trauma.
- Highly developed consultation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong skills in fostering practice development and supporting professional growth in others.




- Experience and understanding of harm minimisation approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver both individual and group-based therapeutic interventions.
- Sound understanding of risk assessment and risk management principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to consult, liaise and collaborate effectively with colleagues, health professionals and external agencies.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience using electronic client management systems, data management tools and Microsoft Office applications.

You will also require:

- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Registration with a relevant professional body such as AHPRA, AASW or ACA.
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card), or the ability to obtain one.
- National Criminal History Check.
