About the role

We are seeking a compassionate, professional, and proactive Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic primary care team. As the first point of contact for patients, the Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment while efficiently managing front-desk operations, patient enquiries, appointments, and administrative tasks. The successful candidate will help ensure the clinic operates smoothly, professionally, and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

Welcome patients warmly, manage a high volume of phone calls, respond to enquiries, and provide compassionate support to patients who may be anxious, unwell, or distressed

Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while effectively managing daily practitioner calendars and clinic bookings

Process patient payments, assist with invoicing, and coordinate Medicare rebates, insurance claims, and related administrative requirements





Maintain strict patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with relevant legislation and clinic policies

Ensure the reception and waiting areas are clean, safe, and welcoming

Complete a range of general administrative duties to support the clinical team and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice

About you

Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy, fast-paced medical environment

Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations and de‑escalate challenging situations professionally

Proficiency in practice management systems and general computer applications, with the ability to learn new software quickly

A strong understanding of patient confidentiality, privacy, professional boundaries, and ethical standards

A friendly, patient-focused approach with the ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional at all times
