This is a rare chance to own the environmental function of a major Queensland minerals project end-to-end. Reporting directly to the CEO and based in the Eagle Street office in the Brisbane CBD, you will take the reins of the Esmeralda EIS at a pivotal stage and see it through to approval, then grow with the project as it moves into development and operations. The role evolves through three phases: near term spearhead the EIS approval by managing the response to Queensland Government and state agency feedback on the draft EIS, coordinating the technical consultant team, and driving the assessment through public notification to a successful evaluation; medium term lead environmental management through project development including secondary approvals, environmental authority conditions, management plans and construction-phase compliance; long term establish and lead the development of the operational environmental management system for the Esmeralda mine site.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and manage all environmental approvals for the Esmeralda Graphite Project, including the Queensland State EIS process through the Office of the Coordinator-General and relevant state agencies.
- Prepare and coordinate responses to agency comments on the draft EIS, including technical matters spanning groundwater, surface water, flooding, rehabilitation, PRCP and mine closure.
- Engage and manage environmental consultants and technical specialists, ensuring quality, integration and timely delivery of studies and reports.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with Queensland Government departments, regulators and other stakeholders.
- Manage secondary environmental approvals,

permits and licensing required for development.
- Develop and implement environmental management systems and plans for the construction and operational phases.
- Oversee environmental compliance, monitoring and reporting across development and operations.
- Provide clear, timely advice to the CEO and leadership team on approvals status, risks and pathways.

About you

- Tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Around 6-10 years' experience in environmental roles, ideally within the mining and resources sector.
- A strong working knowledge of Queensland State EIS approvals for mineral projects, including the Coordinator-General's coordinated project process and associated state agency requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams and preparing high-quality technical and regulatory documentation.
- Confident engaging with regulators and government agencies, with solid written and verbal communication skills.
- A hands-on, delivery-focused operator who can run the approvals task day-to-day and grow into the environmental leader as the project develops.
- Willingness to travel periodically to the Esmeralda site in North Queensland.
