We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Clinical Nurse Educator with expertise in forensic mental health nursing to join our growing team at Blacktown. Bring your advanced clinical knowledge, educational leadership and commitment to recovery-oriented care to a unique opportunity where you can help establish a new service and influence nursing practice from the ground up.

Where you'll be working

About the New Forensic Mental Health Inpatient Service:

Opening 13 October 2026 at the Blacktown Hospital Campus, the recent 20-bed Low Secure Forensic Mental Health Inpatient Unit will provide specialised assessment, treatment and recovery-focused care for people with mental health needs within the forensic mental health system.

You will work across Budyari Gili and Budyari Gumada forensic units, joining a contemporary service where education, collaboration and innovation are central to delivering safe, therapeutic and evidence-based care.

Be part of a new specialist forensic mental health service from day one.

Work within a specialised workplace supporting complex consumers across legal and custodial frameworks.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and the broader forensic mental health network.

Help establish a positive workplace culture focused on recovery, rehabilitation and consumer-centred care.

Contribute to a service committed to education, research, innovation and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

As a Clinical Nurse Educator,



you will use your clinical expertise and knowledge of adult learning principles to build workforce capability and support high standards of nursing practice across the service.

Develop, deliver and evaluate clinical education, orientation, induction and career development programs.

Mentor nurses and support staff to achieve and maintain clinical competencies relevant to their roles.

Provide expert bedside teaching and translate evidence-based practice into high-quality clinical care.

Partner with Nurse Managers, Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Consultants and key stakeholders to identify and address education needs.

Drive innovation, research, quality improvement and continuous learning while maintaining accurate education and competency records.

Demonstrated extensive clinical experience and/or post registration qualification in the relevant speciality and nursing professional development/ education.

Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change within the context of best practice clinical care and workplace culture

Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate clinical education at the ward level, and provide support and guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing and midwifery workforce, working within appropriate models of care.

Demonstrated effective and high level communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolutions skills in addition to proven ability to motivate and engage people in the clinical setting.

Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous improvement whilst ensuring currency of practice in the relevant specialty.

Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborative and integrated multidisciplinary teamwork, aimed at building and strengthening partnerships with consumers and key stakeholders to provide best practice service delivery.

Strong commitment to the on-going development/enhancement of nursing practice within a patient centred, multi-disciplinary clinical environment.

Relevant computer skills including database programmes and data entry.
