About us
Noosa Pengari Steiner School first opened its doors in 1996 and has now established itself as a strong independent school offering a Steiner/Waldorf Education for students from Kindergarten to Class 12. We currently cater for 350 students from 200 families and continue to grow. The school philosophy, pedagogy and curriculum are aligned with the work of Rudolf Steiner, which extends into how we work with students with diverse educational needs.
About the role
This role will be creative to guide our high school drama program, deliver English classes with a special focus on mentoring our Year 12 students in projects. Working as part of our teaching team in High School, you will teach Drama and English to secondary students and coordinate the Class 12 Projects program.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging drama lessons for Years 10-12, blending theory, performance, and technical theatre skills.
- Direct plays, showcases and performance evenings that celebrate talent.
- Provide constructive feedback that challenges students to refine their craft and thinking critically about their work.
- Deliver engaging English lessons and collaborate with other colleagues.
- Encourage and foster analytical thinking, creativity, and student confidence in English comprehension.
- Create a respectful, inclusive classroom environment focused on student wellbeing.
- Coordinate each student to be assigned a Project Supervisor who is a current High School Teacher.
- Actively support and guide students throughout their project to be able to define desired outcomes of the project.
- Coach students to establish and manage their time, organise project materials.
- Provide a written qualitative assessment report in accordance with guidelines at the completion of the project that reviews all aspects of the Class 12 Project work.
About you
- Current Queensland Teacher Registration.
- Established experience teaching Drama and English at the secondary level.
- Demonstrated experience in education, preferably within Steiner Education with a deep understanding of the High School.
- In depth understanding of curriculum development and differentiation and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
- Strong organisational skills with good diligence and able to prioritise.
- Professional judgement, empathy, and discretion.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
- An interest in or willingness to engage with Steiner pedagogy.
