Family Assistant for Private Household in Chelmer

A Family Assistant is sought to join a warm Brisbane family with two children in their beautiful, established family home on the Brisbane River in Chelmer.

The position combines defined periods of hands-on childcare with responsibility for helping the household run smoothly and calmly day to day. As the children grow, the childcare component will naturally reduce and the role will increasingly expand into broader household and property coordination.

The family is looking for someone warm, highly capable, discreet and proactive who will enjoy taking ownership of their role and becoming a trusted part of family life.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Household organisation, general resetting and daily tidy
- Groceries, provisioning and household supplies
- Family meal preparation
- Family laundry, ironing and linen management
- Occasional household errands
- Coordinating cleaners, tradespeople and other household service providers
- Defined periods of childcare throughout the day

Professional cleaners are retained, so this is not a heavy cleaning position.

The role offers plenty of variety throughout the day, with a natural rhythm between hands-on time with the children and substantial uninterrupted periods to focus on household responsibilities.

The successful candidate will learn the family's preferences and be trusted to apply them independently in day-to-day decisions. This role will suit someone with good judgement who enjoys taking initiative and making things run smoothly without requiring close supervision.

LONGER-TERM OPPORTUNITY





This is intended to be a genuinely long-term position, with scope for the role to develop towards a more senior Family Assistant / Household or Property Management position as the children grow.

The role can evolve around the strengths and interests of the right person, with increasing trust, autonomy and responsibility over time.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

- Warm, calm and genuinely confident with young children
- Exceptionally organised, dependable and resourceful
- Confident and experienced with family meal preparation and cooking
- Proactive, with strong initiative and sound judgement
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining a well-organised, beautifully presented home
- Able to learn the family's preferences and apply them thoughtfully in day-to-day life
- Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of family privacy
- Strong communication skills, good judgement and common senseRelevant experience in a high-trust professional or private household environment
- Current driver's licence and safe driving record
- Queensland Blue Card and National Police Check, or ability to obtain
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
- Full Australian working rights
- Experience as a Family Assistant, private PA/EA, Household Manager, professional nanny, or within luxury yachting/private service would be highly regarded. The family is particularly interested in candidates who combine genuine warmth with children with strong practical and organisational capability.
