Senior Backend Engineer - IAM & Access Control at Scale Canva Melbourne, VIC, AU

Job Description

Canva is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer in Melbourne to lead Authorization at scale within the User Platform. You will own design patterns for the centralised, SpiceDB-backed authorization system and drive adoption across Security, API Platform, and product engineering.

This role combines deep technical leadership with hands‑on work at Canva's scale. Ideal candidates bring experience solving hard IAM problems, building high‑availability services, and mentoring teams.
