About the role
- Lead the way: Take ownership of the day-to-day operations of the Histology Laboratory and drive a high-performing, efficient service.
- Be hands-on: Use your strong Histology expertise across all bench areas while supporting workflow and service delivery when required.
- Lead and develop your team: Supervise, mentor and build the capability of scientific and technical staff,
fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Champion quality and excellence: Ensure the highest standards of specimen processing, quality assurance, accreditation and patient-focused diagnostic services.
- Drive continuous improvement: Monitor workflow, turnaround times and KPIs while identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and overall laboratory performance.
About you
- Experienced Histology leader: Bring a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) and at least 3 years' experience in a Histology Laboratory Supervisor or equivalent leadership role.
- Hands-on Histology expertise: Have strong practical and theoretical knowledge of histotechnology, with confidence working across Histology bench areas and supporting day-to-day laboratory operations.
- People-focused leader: Demonstrated experience leading teams, including rostering, workload allocation, training, competency assessments and developing high-performing staff.
- Quality-driven skilled: Strong understanding of NATA accreditation, quality assurance and quality control within an Anatomical Pathology environment, with a commitment to maintaining the highest laboratory standards.
- A proactive problem solver: Bring excellent communication and organisational skills,
sound knowledge of LIS and laboratory technology, and a passion for continuous improvement, workplace safety and exceptional patient care.
