Offer Description

- Based in the College of Engineering and Information Technology
- Full-time fixed term contract until 31 March 2028
- Salary Range Level B:$117,100 -$138,515 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
- Salary Range Level C: $142,789 - $164,207 Per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

Workthat matters

You will bring strong theoretical and practical expertise in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a relevant degree and PhD (or equivalent research experience), a track record of publications, and the ability to turn research into tangible outcomes. You’ll be a collaborative, hands‑on team player, confident working with investigators and industry partners, with experience in experimentation, project delivery and, ideally, open‑source reinforcement learning tools.

Experience

Tojoin our community and thrive in this role,you will likely havethe following skills and experience, forLevel B:

- A PhD (completed or near completion) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Performance Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated research expertise in experimental computer systems, performance evaluation, benchmarking, computer architecture, embedded/HPC systems or a closely related area.
- Demonstrated experience designing controlled and repeatable experiments, including quantitative data analysis, statistical reasoning, validation and interpretation of results.
- Experience with FPGA, GPU or accelerator technologies.
- Familiarity with high performance or embedded computing
- Strong programming and data-analysis capability, preferably including Python and C/C++
- A record of high-quality research outputs commensurate with prospect and demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with software engineers, researchers and external stakeholders and to deliver against project milestones.
- Ability to work appropriately with sensitive project information and comply with applicable University and project security requirements.

- Demonstrated research expertise in experimental computer systems, performance evaluation, benchmarking, computer architecture, embedded/HPC systems or a closely related area.
- Demonstrated experience designing controlled and repeatable experiments, including quantitative data analysis,



statistical reasoning, validation and interpretation of results.
- Experience with systems profiling and measurement tools and with metrics such as latency, throughput, utilisation, memory bandwidth, power consumption and thermal behaviour.
- Knowledge of heterogeneous computing and one or more of CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, SoCs/MPSoCs or specialised accelerators is highly desirable.
- Experience evaluating CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, SoCs, DSPs or related computing platforms.
- Strong programming and data-analysis capability, preferably including Python and C/C++,
- A record of high-quality research outputs commensurate with opportunity and demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and manage a small team of software engineers, researchers and external stakeholders and to deliver against project milestones.
- Ability to work appropriately with sensitive project information and comply with applicable University and project security requirements.
