Field Service Hydraulic Technician / Mechanical or Diesel Fitter

Central Queensland Hydraulics is a well-established Mackay business specialising in the design, manufacture, installation, servicing and repair of hydraulic and lubrication systems.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Fitter or Hydraulic Technician to join our team. This is a varied position combining field-service work across Bowen Basin mine sites with hydraulic repairs and servicing in our Paget workshop.
A fully equipped field-service vehicle will be provided for site work.
Key Responsibilities
Field-Service Duties
- Attend mine sites and customer locations as required.
- Conduct hydraulic fault-finding and system diagnostics.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic and lubrication systems onsite.
- Perform hydraulic and lubrication servicing on mobile and fixed plant.
- Conduct hydraulic tooling inspections, audits, testing and calibration.
- Complete minor tooling and hydraulic equipment repairs onsite.
- Install, commission and maintain hydraulic and fluid-power systems.
- Accurately complete service reports, inspection records and associated documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors and site personnel.
Workshop Duties
- Strip, inspect, repair and test hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors and valves.
- Manufacture and repair hydraulic equipment and assemblies.
- Assist with welding, fabrication and machining where required.
- Service and repair trucks, forklifts, EWPs and other mobile equipment.
- Support general workshop activities when field-service work is not required.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- A recognised trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Diesel Fitting,
Fitting and Turning or a related discipline.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, fluid-power equipment and lubrication systems.
- Strong hydraulic fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience overhauling and testing hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors and valves.
- The ability to read and interpret hydraulic circuit drawings.
- Experience working on mining, heavy mobile or fixed plant.
- Sound computer skills and the ability to complete electronic service reports.
- Excellent communication, organisation and customer-service skills.
- A current Australian driver’s licence.
- A strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, integrity and teamwork.
The following qualifications would be highly regarded:
- Standard 11.
- Current Coal Mine Workers’ Health Assessment.
- Mine-site inductions, including BHP inductions.
- Working at Heights.
- Confined Space Entry.
- High-Risk Work Licence.
- Hydraulic tooling inspection, testing or calibration experience.
Applicants without all current mine-site qualifications may still be considered, depending on their experience.
