About the role

The Mine Engineer plays a critical role at Metro Mining in providing technical direction and expertise in mine engineering and planning activities. This position is responsible for ensuring all engineering and planning processes adhere to relevant laws, regulations, standards, and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Designing and planning mining operations, including developing and implementing mining methods and equipment.

Conduct geological and geotechnical studies to assess the viability of mining sites.

Determining the most suitable methods of ore extraction taking account of such factors as depth of overburden, blending of bauxite grade in liaison with geology to meet customer specifications

Support and work within MMI’s values and strong safety culture.





Preparing plans for layout of mine development and the application of appropriate mining techniques.

Planning and conducting research and providing advice on engineering operations for the exploration, location and extraction of bauxite.

Analyse production data to identify trends and optimize mining operations.

Completing and communicating the weekly mine plan coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient use of resources and equipment.

Prepare project budgets and schedules and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have:

A Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field.

5+ years’ experience with mining operations, including design, planning, and management.

Strong knowledge of mining equipment, techniques, and regulations.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working knowledge of relevant mining legislation and its application

A high level of planning and problem-solving ability.

Strong communication skills and ability to critically evaluate mining problems.

Ability to work closely with production and maintenance operational teams.

Effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a small, agile team environment.

This is an office-based role with flexibility to work remotely. The successful candidate will be required to travel to site on a regular basis.
