Position Information
Googong High School will open to year 7 and 8 students in 2027. Situated in the Queanbeyan Network on Ngambri and Ngunnawal Country, the school serves a rapidly growing, highly engaged and aspirational community, with the potential for the school to expand to cater for approximately 2000 students.
The Teacher Librarian will form part of our foundation Humanities faculty. This faculty will encompass English, HSIE, CAPA, library and have carriage of some of our whole school curriculum projects. Whilst this role is for Teacher Librarian, successful applicants will take a key role in being part of larger school initiatives.
The founding Teacher Librarian at Googong High School will have the opportunity to establish a library space that will meet the contemporary demands of all students in a rapidly growing school. Strong operational skills, balanced with a creative and strategic vision for what a library could look like in a future-focused school, will be essential to the role.
Googong High School is being designed around an exciting and creative curriculum structure that is founded in Learning Sciences. As a new school with the opportunity to establish a dynamic and contemporary culture, the school is building a learning design that reflects a broad research base in effective and modern teaching practices. This includes a whole school skills framework (RECONI) and Teacher Librarians are well placed to build on these learning skills both through direct teaching and supporting other staff to implement these skills in their own subjects.

Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Library qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
- Excellent operational and strategic skills to design, implement and grow an innovative library learning space that meets the growing needs of all students.
- Strong teaching skills with a particular focus in developing holistic learning skills that benefit students in all areas of learning.
- Exemplary personal, interpersonal and communication skills,
with the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team focused on shared practice.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
**If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
