Prospect
This is an opportunity to work in a senior technical role supporting secure, enterprise scale environments in a highly regulated setting. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving critical platforms across networking, servers, storage and backup technologies, while contributing to operational resilience, security and ongoing infrastructure improvement initiatives. The role offers broad exposure across enterprise technologies and the opportunity to work on complex technical challenges and high impact operational outcomes. This is a permanent full-time opportunity and must be based in Canberra. Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate. The successful candidate must hold a Baseline security clearance or higher.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain enterprise infrastructure across network, server, storage, backup and virtualisation platforms.
- Configure, administer and optimise complex Cisco network environments, including Cisco ISE, Cisco NDFC, Nexus switching,
Leaf-Spine architectures, VXLAN and SD-WAN technologies (Viptela and/or Meraki).
- Manage and support secure network services, including Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs and remote connectivity solutions.
- Administer F5 BIG-IP load balancing platforms and Azure cloud networking services.
- Support Windows, Linux and VMware environments, ensuring high availability, performance and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, networking and connectivity issues across multiple technology domains.
- Perform upgrades, patching, monitoring, lifecycle management and capacity planning activities.
- Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery testing and operational resilience initiatives.
- Contribute to incident, problem and change management processes, ensuring reliable and secure service delivery.
Requirements
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Australian citizenship and Baseline security clearance or higher
- Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco networking technologies, including Nexus switching, Cisco ISE, SD‑WAN and modern data centre networking concepts.
- Experience supporting Palo Alto firewalls and enterprise network security environments.
- Experience with F5 BIG‑IP load balancers and Azure cloud networking.
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, network segmentation, VPNs and network security principles.
- Experience supporting Windows Server, Linux and VMware environments.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across enterprise infrastructure platforms.
- Strong understanding of operational best practices, including monitoring, patching, documentation and change control.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable:
- Experience within Defence, Government or other highly regulated environments.
- Exposure to enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery technologies.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, Ansible or Terraform.
- Exposure to Azure or hybrid cloud environments.
As a Major Service Provider of the Australian Defence Force, an AGSVA security clearance will be required and compliance to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
