About the role

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to lead in the pricing development for Transmission Lines and Substation projects.

The Senior Estimator role is a seasoned professional position that is pivotal in generating and presenting project estimates, spanning from initial take-offs to final cost assessments for all project inputs. Reporting directly to the Bid Manager, the Estimator routinely engages with Business Development, Engineering, and Operations disciplines.

Your expertise and experience will lead a high performing estimation team and include oversight and strategy in delivering safe, quality, innovative, cost effective and compliant pricing of projects.

You will have advanced strategies relating to procurement, planning, risk control, project management, stakeholder management, reporting, safety, quality, and environment/sustainability.

As a strong leader you will develop and mentor your team and be able to relate to all levels of the team. As the Senior Estimator you will be able to lead your team through the effective communication of priorities.

- Transmission Line and/or Substation Estimation specialist
- Budgeting of renewable energy EPC project (Including Indicative Price)
- Thoroughly analyse project requisites and specifications to devise cost estimates encompassing materials, labour, and equipment. Knowledge of renewable energy project development procedure.
- Compile comprehensive project estimates by factoring in labour and material expenses, subcontractor quotations, and overhead costs
- Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs and cost computations based on project schematics and specifications.




- Evaluate and facilitate negotiations with multiple vendors and subcontractors to ensure both competitive pricing and quality.
- Continuously monitor project expenditures and update estimates as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and deliver estimates to clients, effectively addressing any queries or concerns they may have
- Proficiency in tracking actual project costs against estimates and identifying discrepancies to make necessary adjustments
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all project cost components are accurately accounted for in estimates
- Estimating from first principles

About You

- Tertiary qualifications in engineering or equivalent
- 5 years' + proven experience as an Estimating Manager across the Transmission Line and Substation sector in Australia
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Transmission Line and Substations -EPC projects and the unique challenges and opportunities they present.
- Knowledge of Australian Environmental legislation
- Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards
- Proven ability in planning, multi-tasking and delivering quality outcomes to deadline within a high-pressure environment
