Suppression Fire Technicians (Trainee and Experienced)

Our team is comprised of specialist fire protection professionals, contractors, plumbers, sprinkler fitters and electricians who not only install, but also maintain and provide ongoing support for your fire protection system.

About the Role

We are currently seeking trainee and experienced Suppression Fire Technicians to join our CQ Team on a fly in, fly out basis from Brisbane OR drive in, drive out basis from Mackay. These positions include both site embedded and floating roles, supporting open cut mine sites throughout the Bowen Basin. Accommodation is provided in shared company houses and mining camps, depending on the assigned site.

In this hands on role, you will be responsible for maintaining site assets, including inspections, servicing and maintenance of critical portable fire equipment, fire detection systems and fire suppression systems. For those commencing as a trainee, all training is provided, including the chance to obtain a Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing.

The position operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster, working 11 or 12 hour shifts.



Flights between Brisbane to Mackay are provided, along with a daily tax free meal allowance.

Experience and Qualifications

- Sound knowledge or willingness to learn Australian Standards (including AS1851 -2012) - or willing to learn.
- Suppression or portables fire equipment experience or willing to learn
- Excellent workmanship, reliability, attention to detail and ability to work in a team
- A high standard of safety and a commitment to continual improvement
- An ability to work independently with a high level of communication and customer service skills
- An ability to prioritise and arrange service tasks and accurately complete service related documentation
- Manual Drivers Licence
- Desirable (or willing to obtain prior to commencing):
- Current Standard 11
- Current Section 4 Medical
- Work at Heights Certification
- Provide First Aid Certification
- QBCC Licence
