UMENCO is recruiting a QLD State Manager for an Australian menswear brand whose designs are centred around the art of tailoring, natural fibres and enduring craftsmanship.

The State Manager will be responsible for leading the overall performance of all stores and concession sites within the state of Queensland, driving both commercial outcomes and operational excellence. Reporting to the Head of Retail and Customer Relations, this role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on leadership, ensuring alignment with the broader retail vision while delivering robust sales growth, customer engagement and brand consistency across all locations.

With full accountability for financial performance, the State Manger oversees budgets, KPIs and cost control, including wages, stock efficiency and operating expenses. The role involves developing and executing localised strategies that support national objectives, monitoring market trends and competitor activity and identifying opportunities to optimise performance. A deep understanding of customer behaviour across locations is essential to inform trading, stock management and promotional initiatives.





A key focus of the role is building and leading high‑performing teams across the state. This includes end‑to‑end peple management, from recruitment and onboarding through to training, development and performance management. The State Manager will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring teams are engaged, well‑trained and consistently delivering on both sales targets and customer experience expectations.

The role also champions excellence across both front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house operations, ensuring stores are visually compelling, operationally efficient and fully compliant with company standards and WHS requirements. Working closely with cross‑functional stakeholders, the State Manager will drive initiatives across visual merchandising, stock control and customer engagement, while maintaining clear communication and strong governance. Success in this role requires a highly commercial, organised and people‑focused leader, with the ability to operate at peace while upholding the brand’s values and delivering a consistently elevated retail experience.
