Mint Labour is seeking an experienced Fitter & Turner, Welder or Boilermaker to join a busy production workshop based in Berrinba.
We're open to candidates from any of these trade backgrounds, depending on your experience and skill set. This is a great opportunity for a qualified tradesperson who enjoys hands-on work and wants to work on truck chassis, subframes and transport equipment.
You’ll be part of an experienced production team responsible for assembling, fitting, welding and fabricating components onto truck chassis before the vehicles progress through to the next stage of production.
About the Role
The successful candidates will work within the early stages of the truck production process, where the subframe is fitted and secured to the existing truck chassis before the vehicle moves through to the body-building stage.
Depending on your trade background, your role may involve:
- Fitting and assembling truck subframes onto chassis
- Measuring, marking and accurately positioning components
- Drilling, cutting and modifying steel components
- Aligning and securing subframes and structural components
- Welding and fabrication of steel components
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and measurements
- Using hand and power tools and workshop equipment
- Preparing components for the next stage of truck production
- Working closely with other trades and production team members
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to a high standard
Key Responsibilities
- Fitting and assembling subframes and structural components onto truck chassis
- Measuring, marking and accurately positioning components
- Drilling,
cutting and modifying components to specification
- Ensuring components are correctly aligned and secured
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Using hand and power tools to complete fitting and assembly work
- Ensuring accurate and high-quality workmanship throughout the production process
Welder / Boilermaker
- MIG welding and fabrication
- Welding subframes and structural components
- Fabricating and modifying steel components
- Cutting, grinding, drilling and preparing materials
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and welding specifications
- Ensuring welds and fabrication work meet quality and safety standards
What We’re Looking For
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a workshop, manufacturing, fabrication or heavy vehicle environment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with steel fabrication, structural fitting or truck/trailer production highly regarded
- Ability to accurately measure, drill, cut and fit components
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and safety-focused attitude
- A valid driver's licence highly regarded
