Work Health Safety Consultant Permanent Full Time position Cabrini Malvern location
About the role
As a Work Health Safety Consultant, you will partner with managers and teams across Cabrini to provide expert, practical advice on identifying and managing physical and psychological risks, investigating incidents and implementing effective controls. You will coach and mentor leaders to build their WHS capability and foster a proactive safety culture, while contributing to the delivery of Cabrini’s WHS Plan and the continuous improvement of our WHS Management System.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide expert WHS advice, guidance and support to managers and teams across Cabrini.
- Coach and mentor leaders to build WHS capability, proactively manage risks and foster a positive safety culture.
- Support incident and hazard investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions and effective risk controls.
- Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of Cabrini’s WHS Plan, Management System, policies and practices.
- Identify workplace hazards, prevention strategies and opportunities to reduce physical and psychological risks and improve safety outcomes.
- Conduct WHS audits, support the WHS Committee and ensure effective incident and hazard reporting through RiskMan.
About you
Relevant qualifications
- an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in WHS, OHS or a related discipline.
- Strong experience - at least 5 years’ hands-on WHS consulting experience, ideally within a large, complex organisation; healthcare experience is highly regarded.
- Strong technical expertise - sound knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2004, risk management, incident and hazard investigation, and physical and psychological workplace risks.
- Influencing and coaching capability - excellent relationship‑building, communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to positively influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive,
solutions‑focused approach - demonstrated ability to identify risks, implement practical controls, conduct audits and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Strong systems and technology skills - experience contributing to WHS management systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office; Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable.
