What you'll be doing

As an Orderly/Wardsperson, you will provide essential support services that contribute directly to patient care, hospital operations and patient flow. You will work closely with nursing, clinical and operational teams to ensure the secure and efficient movement of patients, equipment and critical resources across the hospital.

Key responsibilities include:

- Transporting patients safely via beds, trolleys and wheelchairs throughout the hospital
- Assisting with patient handling activities including transfers, repositioning and mobility support using approved equipment and techniques
- Moving equipment, specimens, medical supplies, furniture and documentation to support clinical operations
- Undertaking mortuary duties,



including the respectful preparation and transfer of deceased patients
- Delivering exceptional customer service while promoting safety, teamwork and quality improvement initiatives

Selection Criteria:

- 1. Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, visitors, staff and managers.
- 2. Demonstrated knowledge of Work Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Infection control principles
- 3. Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and physically challenging position/workload.
- 4. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to read and write in English.
- 5. Ability to use electronic devices as part of the Orderly Department’s tasking system
- 6. Ability to complete tasks either in a team environment or unsupervised all within a measurable timeframe
