Do you enjoy working with your hands, curious about how things work, and keen to build a career in medical technology?
We're looking for a Junior Workshop Technician to join our team in our brand-new facility in Stapylton. This is a hands‑on technical role with real training behind it, and no biomedical experience required.
The Role
As a Junior Workshop Technician, you'll carry out preventative maintenance, repairs and calibrations across a diverse range of medical equipment. One day you might be repairing a faulty benchtop steriliser, the next you could be servicing IVF incubators bound for a fertility centre.
The work is primarily electro‑mechanical, and you may also service medical gas resuscitation equipment. This is a workshop‑based role, so you'll spend your days at the bench rather than on the road, with occasional contact with clinicians, biomedical teams and other industry professionals by phone or email.
You'll:
- Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on a broad range of medical equipment
- Perform calibrations and testing to manufacturer and regulatory requirements
- Service medical gas resuscitation equipment
- Complete accurate service documentation and reports
- Work to our Quality Assurance standards and procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workspace
- Liaise with customers and internal teams on job status, parts and turnaround
- Learn the clinical context behind the equipment you’re working on
Mediquip
At Mediquip, we've been keeping medical equipment running in hospitals and healthcare facilities across Australia since 1983. Behind every piece of equipment we service and supply, is a team of people who take pride in getting it right, and we're looking for someone ready to be part of that.
You
We'll be excited to hear from candidates with robust core technical skills and a genuine appetite to learn. Previous biomedical service or repair experience is a bonus, not a requirement. This role suits people from a range of trade and technical backgrounds, because what matters most is mechanical aptitude, methodical fault finding, and the patience to work through a problem properly.
You take pride in your workmanship, you're comfortable following process and documenting your work, and you'd rather ask a question than guess. Training and support will be provided for the clinical and equipment‑specific aspects of the role, so if you bring the fundamentals and the curiosity, we'll teach you the rest.
Some must‑haves include:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- A willingness to learn and take on feedback
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
We
Our core values are Trust, Knowledge, Enjoyment, Excellence, Innovation and Partnership, and we're committed to living these values in all areas of our work.
You'll be supported in a structured training pathway into biomedical service, with hands‑on mentoring from experienced technicians and the chance to build genuine specialist expertise. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities to develop and advance your career with us.
- We celebrate our achievements and team successes with peer‑nominated awards, and provide our team and their families access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program. We offer Birthday Leave each year, so you can take the day off and celebrate the day, plus you'll accrue one additional week of leave after 5 years of service.
