The role is hands-on, combining broadacre cropping, machinery operation and mechanical work, with exposure to the wider cattle and feedlot enterprise.
About Hinz Grazing
Hinz Grazing is a family-owned, growth-focused cropping, cattle and feedlot business located between Miles and Condamine on Queensland’s Western Downs.
We operate approximately 2,500 acres of cropping, 6,000 acres of grazing/backgrounding country and an accredited feedlot, producing award-winning cattle.
Our cropping and cattle enterprises work together.
You’ll grow the crop, keep the machinery running and help turn paddock production into quality feed.
We’re focused on soil health, sustainability, long-term productivity and continually improving the way we farm.
Location & Lifestyle
Based between Miles and Condamine, the role includes a new two-bedroom home and plenty of space to enjoy rural living. The Western Downs has strong sporting and community networks, local pubs and events, schools and established towns nearby. Somewhere you can settle in, get involved and become part of the community.
The Role
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of our broadacre cropping program while remaining hands-on with machinery and day-to-day farm operations.
As your skills and experience develop, we want you to build towards greater involvement in business planning and decision-making.
You will
- Plan and deliver broadacre cropping programs from paddock preparation and planting, through to harvest.
- Operate, service, repair and maintain farm plant and machinery.
- Coordinate cropping contractors.
- Maintain cropping and machinery records.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of our small team.
- Support our Head of Livestock, as needed with cattle, yard and feedlot work.
What You’ll Bring
- Broadacre cropping experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
- A positive attitude and robust work ethic.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your area.
- Most importantly, a willingness to grow and learn with the business.
Advantageous
- Truck licence, or willingness to obtain one.
- Cattle experience.
What’s On Offer
- Competitive remuneration based on experience + super.
- New two-bedroom on-farm home.
- Workmate Ute + fuel.
- Flexible, self-managed farming hours.
- Occasional rostered half-day weekend feeding.
- Training, mentoring and external development opportunities.
- Scope to grow your skills, responsibilities and involvement as the business develops.
Relocating with someone?
Casual hourly relief farm and feeding work may also be available for a partner or friend, particularly during staff leave or absences, subject to suitability and business needs.
Why Hinz Grazing?
