Photographer / Videographer — Freelance Contractor

Vewd Media is a Melbourne-based media production company specialising in creating engaging media for schools, with an emphasis on sport and event coverage.

We produce photography and video for school websites, promotional campaigns, social media, yearbooks, internal communications and more, providing tailored solutions to meet our clients' needs.

Role

We are looking for a talented Photographer / Videographer to work with Vewd Media on a freelance contractor basis.

This is an on-site role across Greater Melbourne, with a particular emphasis on the north-west. The Photographer / Videographer will be responsible for capturing high quality images and engaging video for our clients.

Assignments include photographing and filming students participating in sport, in the classroom and at school events, as well as selecting and organising footage and images.

Most assignments range from approximately 1–3 hours with the occasional half-day and full-day shoots. For photography work, post-production will generally be limited to culling and uploading files, with retouching completed by Vewd Media.

We are looking for someone who is excited by the idea of developing an ongoing relationship with a boutique media business.

Contract Engagement

This is a freelance contractor position, with work offered on a job by job basis and best suited to an emerging photographer/videographer.

Training

A sound knowledge of camera operation for both photography and video is required, along with basic post-production skills.



Training in Vewd Media's specific processes and approach will be provided.

Availability

Availability on most Saturdays is essential, with some weekday and weeknight availability also required.

Photography Equipment

Contractors are required to supply their own professional photography equipment, including:

- Full-frame camera

- 24–70mm f/2.8 lens or equivalent

- 70–200mm f/2.8 lens or equivalent

Requirements

- MUST have a driver's licence and regular access to a vehicle

- Current Working With Children Check (Employee)

- Willing to travel to different parts of Melbourne

- Portfolio showcasing work relevant to the position, particularly sport and event photography and video

- Strong understanding of photography and camera operation

- Experience using Adobe Lightroom

- Video production and Adobe Premiere Pro experience would be highly regarded

Skills

- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues

- Creative: Ability to capture engaging and unique images, with a solid eye for composition and detail

- Organisational: Excellent time management and ability to efficiently manage and organise files

- Technical: Strong knowledge of photography equipment, exposure, autofocus, lighting and shooting techniques
