Mid-Level Java / Kotlin Engineer – FinTech Contract | 6-Month Rolling Contract | Primarily Remote

Daily rate: $800–$950 p/d inc. Super

We’re working with a growing FinTech organisation looking for a Mid-Level Java / Kotlin Engineer to join their engineering team on an initial 6-month rolling contract.
This is a primarily remote opportunity working across contemporary, scalable backend systems, with a strong focus on clean code, engineering quality and best practices.
The Role
Build and maintain backend services using Java and Kotlin
Develop scalable microservices and APIs
Work across event-driven and distributed architectures
Build cloud-native solutions across AWS
Work with Kafka for messaging and event streaming
Deploy and operate containerised applications using Kubernetes
Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices
Work closely with engineers,



product and other technical stakeholders

What We’re Looking For
Solid commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin
Experience building backend APIs and microservices
AWS cloud experience
Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming experience
Kubernetes and containerisation experience
Strong software engineering fundamentals and clean coding practices
FinTech, banking or financial services experience is beneficial but not essential

The Details
$800–$950 per day including Super
Initial 6-month rolling contract
Primarily remote working with occasional Sydney office attendance
Contemporary Java/Kotlin, AWS, Kafka and Kubernetes stack
FinTech environment
